Food for Thought: The Importance of Reaching Out
I hadn't heard from a couple of my friends in a while. I didn't think much of it because it's the end of summer and everyone's busy enjoying themselves outside while they can.
As my days have begun to slow down I decided to check in. I sent two simple "how are you?" texts and was reminded of how much insight you can gain, if you step out of your own busy-ness, and extend the kindness of these three small yet genuine words.
These words provided the open space that each of my friends needed to share what was really going on. I found out that they were both far from well and was saddened to think of them weathering storms I didn't know were on the horizon.
But now I know. I know because I reached out. Now I can be the support they need.
Who haven't you heard from in a while? Who could you reach out to, to check in on, to let them know you are thinking of them? Here are some cards we'll be using to re-connect and some that I'll be using to support my lovely ladies.
Until the next note,
Kate
